New Excursions Give Special Access, After-hours Options

Postby HostDave » Sun Feb 16, 2014 4:02 pm

Azamara Club Cruises' shore excursion program added two new offerings aimed at culture-seekers. 'Insider Access' gives the opportunity to visit an ancestral home, workshop or place of business of a local insider, while 'Nights and Cool Places' provides custom after-dinner experiences such as after-hours museum visits, cocktails at a local hot spot or a guided architecture-focused walk.

The new choices, more than 100, are available beginning with the 2014 Europe season.

The offerings highlight Azamara's longer stays in port and culture-oriented travelers' desire for a more immersive experience.

Azamara president and ceo Larry Pimentel said the new options connect travelers to the local scene and stimulate their mind and senses.

As part of the 'Insider Access' program, for example, passengers visiting Haifa, Israel, can step into the home of a Druze family for a hands-on cooking workshop. While the meal is being prepared, visitors will get insight to the secret religion, tradition and culture of the Druze people who have inhabited the Holy Land for hundreds of years.

'Insider Access' tours involve intimate groups of eight to 12 participants.

'Nights and Cool Places' will afford 15 to 20 participants access to great sights. For example, passengers visiting Hong Kong can sign up for a night tour to view the famous Symphony of Lights from the Sky Terrace at the Peak following a tram ride offering panoramic views.

Both new programs will be available for booking beginning in late March. Information: www.azamaraclubcruises.com/landdiscoveries.
