2017 has new ports, 'Cruise Global, Eat Local' program

Postby HostDave » Wed Dec 10, 2014 9:19 pm

Azamara Club Cruises will offer 65 voyages to 203 ports in 68 countries during 2017. Included are four new ports, plus new voyages including Australia to Asia, Southern California to South Beach and pearls of the Indian Ocean. The line will also revisit the Monaco Grand Prix and offer history-themed cruises to Normandy, Holland and Germany.

The new ports are Kaikoura, New Zealand; Mahe, Seychelles; Yucatán, Mexico, and George Town, Grand Cayman.

Adding to its destination immersion, Azamara in 2015 will launch its 'Cruise Global, Eat Local' program, providing the opportunity to dine at restaurants serving authentic fare in each port.

In winter and spring 2017, Azamara Quest will sail the West Indies, Panama Canal and Central America. One itinerary, a Baja California, Sea of Cortez and Copper Canyon voyage embarking in San Diego for 12 nights, will follow the Spaniards’ search for treasure through Sierra Madre foothill towns in Mexico, provide a train ride through the Copper Canyon and the chance to visit a pearl farm in Guaymas and a Spanish mission near Loreto.

During the same time, Azamara Journey will sail through Asia, the Pacific Ocean and to Australia/New Zealand. Highlight include a 13-night cruise from Singapore to Thailand, Vietnam and China, and a 15-night Australia/New Zealand voyage that embarks in Sydney and visits Melbourne and Port Arthur and Hobart in Tasmania, before exploring New Zealand—a new destination for Azamara. Ports include Dunedin, Akaroa, Napier and Tauranga, with the cruise ending in Auckland.

Throughout summer and fall 2017, Azamara Quest will sail across the Mediterranean and Black Sea region. One 10-night itinerary from Civitavecchia (Rome) explores the Amalfi coast, Croatia and Greece. While in Italy, passengers will travel to Sorrento and Amalfi then head to Sicily, Malta, Greece, Montenegro and Croatia before disembarking in Venice.

Meanwhile, Azamara Journey will cruise northern and western Europe in the summer and fall, while also offering some voyages to the Mediterranean and Black Sea. Choices include a British Open voyage that gives golf fans the opportunity to attend the British Open Finals at Royal Birkdale. Highlights of the 13-night trip include Cork, Glasgow, Dublin, Belfast and Edinburgh.

A week-long Iberian peninsula cruise gives the opportunity to taste tapas and wines in Menorca and visit Gibraltar before disembarking at Lisbon.
