Azamara adds Cuba sailings with new ports, overnights

Postby HostDave » Thu May 04, 2017 12:43 pm

Four additional Cuba sailings for Azamara Club Cruises, all from Miami, feature overnights in Havana and the line's first visits to Cienfuegos and Santiago de Cuba.

'Destination Immersion is the heartbeat of our brand, so naturally we wanted to deliver authentic experiences in Cuba— from new ports to unique land discovery offerings—that truly bring the country’s rich history, culture and people to life,' said Larry Pimentel, president and CEO, Azamara.

Beginning January 2018, Azamara Quest will visit Cienfuegos on Cuba's south-central coast and Santiago de Cuba, the country's second largest city.

The newly added Cuba stops are on the Jan. 4 'Panama Canal & Costa Rica Voyage,' 11 nights, from Miami to Costa Rica and 'Cuba Intensive Voyage,' March 9, a 10-night Miami to Havana program with two overnights in Havana. 'Cuba & Grand Cayman Voyage' sails March 19, seven nights, round-trip Miami, and 'Cuba Intensive Voyage' departs March 28, a 10-night round-trip Miami program with two nights in Havana.

Azamara offers a number of people-to-people shore excursions for activities from sunup to sundown. Passengers can explore historic sites by day, followed by mojitos and Cuban music in the evening. Multiple overnights enable travelers to hear music at salsa clubs and sample the local food.

Excursions include a visit to the open-air Tropicana cabaret, a Nelson Dominguez art gallery tour, Havana by classic car along the Malecón (waterfront) and Hemingway’s Havana, with more experiences coming soon. All tour programs offered by Azamara are designed to meet US requirements for travel to Cuba.
