SHANGHAI DISNEY RESORT CAST CELEBRATE CHILDREN'S DAY

Postby HostDave » Mon Jun 02, 2014 3:49 pm

While construction continues on Shanghai Disney Resort, some lucky children received an early taste of Disney magic in Pudong today. In order to celebrate the upcoming International Children's Day, Disney VoluntEARS from Shanghai Disney Resort joined together with other local partners to host a series of Disney movie experience events for children at Shanghai Pudong Library, including special screenings of Disney's global top animated film, "Frozen."

The event was held in partnership with Shanghai Pudong Library and local non-profit organization Sunny Seeds. Over 30 VoluntEARS, led by Mike Crawford, General Manager of Shanghai Disney Resort, were joined by representatives from Shanghai Shendi Group, one of the resort's shareholders, and the Administrative Commission of Shanghai International Tourism and Resorts Zone, to bring the Children's Day event to Shanghai Pudong Library. In addition to the movie screenings, the nearly 2000 primary and secondary school students, many from migrant families, also participated in Disney Art 101 creative activities, learning how to draw Disney's lovable character – Mickey Mouse.

"We are excited to celebrate Children's Day with students in Shanghai by sharing with them both classic and innovative Disney entertainment. As some of their parents are helping to build Shanghai Disney Resort, we hope to bring these children the unique Disney magic and happiness in advance, so they can be proud of the contributions their parents are making to Shanghai's development," said Mike Crawford, General Manager of Shanghai Disney Resort. "Volunteerism is core component of our DNA as a company, and we will continue to bring our rich Disney heritage to local communities to help educate, inspire and entertain children, while also creating opportunities for our employees to give back to society."

Even before opening, Shanghai Disney Resort is already establishing a tradition to celebrate Children's Day with local communities. Last year, the resort created a unique Disney-inspired decorative environment for the Hematology and Oncology Center of Shanghai Children's Medical Center, and VoluntEARS from the resort continue to pay regular visits to the hospital, bringing love and care to support the treatment and recovery of sick children.
