Postby HostDave » Wed May 24, 2017 3:47 pm

To celebrate China’s National Tourism Day, Shanghai Disney Resort is excited to announce that its theme park, Shanghai Disneyland, recently welcomed its 10 millionth guest. This historic milestone was reached in just under eleven months after the resort’s grand opening in June 2016, making it the most popular theme park ever opened in China. The milestone is the result of the incredible popularity of Shanghai Disneyland with guests from across China and around the world, having successfully delivered unique guest experiences to millions of guests, combining authentic Disney entertainment with distinctive Chinese elements to create a truly unique Disney experience.

Shanghai Disney Resort today also announced the start of a month-long first anniversary celebration, leading up to a magical celebration moment in the resort’s theme park on June 16th. In commemoration of Shanghai Disney Resort’s upcoming one-year anniversary, the resort will welcome families and friends to experience this unique celebrative season with themed décor, specially designed and limited-time-only merchandise, and unforgettable dining experiences.

Starting May 24th, guests are also encouraged to share their special memories from their first-year visits to Shanghai Disney Resort on the resort’s official social media account. Disney fans who submit their memories will have the chance to be selected and invited as special guests at Shanghai Disney Resort’s official first anniversary event on June 16th.

“We’re extremely pleased and humbled to have welcomed our first 10 million guests to Shanghai Disneyland, and extend our deepest thanks and appreciation to our guests for their support,” said Philippe Gas, general manager of Shanghai Disney Resort. “The resort’s rapidly growing popularity and extremely high levels of guest satisfaction add to our confidence in the growing demand for our attractions and entertainment, and the overall development of China’s tourism industry. We can’t wait to celebrate our first anniversary with our partners, guests and Cast Members, all of whom have contributed to our early success.”

Since day one of opening, Shanghai Disney Resort has been committed to offering an authentically Disney, distinctly Chinese guest experience, featuring unparalleled storytelling, world-class attractions, entertainment and Disney’s legendary guest service. The resort has proved to be enormously popular with guests from home and abroad with many of them choosing to celebrate their special occasions, including the holidays, at Shanghai Disney Resort with families and friends, creating life-long memories for Mid-Autumn Festival, National Day Holiday, Christmas, Chinese New Year and many other times throughout the year.

In less than one year after opening, the resort has already celebrated many exciting milestones, including the announcement of first expansion of the theme park with the addition of Toy Story Land, set to open in 2018.

Shanghai Disney Resort continues to contribute to Shanghai’s goal of developing its tourism sector and becoming a global tourism destination. The resort has already hired over 10,000 Cast Members from Shanghai and across China, and generated thousands of additional indirect jobs for tourism and cultural industry professionals. By working closely with local government and industry experts, and continuously soliciting and incorporating guest feedback, the resort team has ensured smooth operation and high guest satisfaction throughout the first year including during peak season periods. The resort has also lifted the bar for the local tourism sector by bringing proven and advanced global practices to the local market, and this trend will continue as the resort continues to grow and expand.

Shanghai Disney Resort’s world-class attractions and live entertainment have also been recognized by top global and China awards from Themed Entertainment Association (TEA), International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA), Visual Effects Society (VES) to China Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (CAAPA).
