AmaWaterways' 2018 features new AmaLea, expanded routes

Postby HostDave » Tue Nov 08, 2016 2:30 pm

AmaWaterways is releasing its 2018 program early, citing pent-up demand from the US market on the heels of two strong future booking months. Highlights are a new ship, eight new itineraries, more wine-themed cruises, on-board enhancements and additional active land excursions.

The new AmaLea is a 158-passenger vessel that will sail the Danube and spring 'Tulip Time' cruises. Modeled after sisters like the soon-to-be-launched AmaKristina, AmaLea is designed with connecting staterooms and triple accommodations, the line's signature twin balconies and a pool with swim-up bar.

Further amenities are the Chef’s Table specialty restaurant and, new for 2018, the daily 'Sip and Sail' cocktail hour.

A new itinerary is planned in Africa and in Vietnam and Cambodia, along with six new Europe routes. Travelers now have the choice of traditional seven-night cruises or extended 10- or 11-night cruises. All are packaged with optional land programs in cities like Vienna, Paris, Prague and Zurich, and feature daily included shore excursions with multiple options for tailored experiences.

Plus, AmaWaterways will offer more biking and hiking tours, and 50 wine-themed sailings through the renowned wine regions of Austria, Germany, Portugal and France, at no additional cost. Highlights include wine tours and tastings at local wineries and private cellars, visits to renowned vineyards and wine-expert-led informative sessions.

In a further enhancement, the line has expanded its dining selection with more healthy, vegetarian and gluten-free options.

Travelers who book 2018 vacations by July 31, 2017, can save up to $500 per person, depending on the duration of the cruise, and $750 per person on European wine cruises.
