Calabasas, CA - (Sep. 30, 2013) - Travel Weekly, the national newspaper of the travel industry, has awarded AmaWaterways three 2013 Magellan Awards for two of its European ships and for its overall river cruising experience. The annual awards honor the best in travel as determined by a panel of highly accomplished travel industry experts.

AmaWaterways’ AmaPrima received a Gold Award in the “River Cruise Ship” category and its AmaCerto received a Silver Award in the “Cabin Design (non-suite)” category. In addition, AmaWaterways received a Silver Award in the overall “River Cruising” category.

“Winning three Magellan Awards is an incredible honor,” said Kristin Karst, AmaWaterways’ Executive Vice President and Co-Owner. “Our worldwide team is extremely hardworking and very passionate about this company, so it’s wonderful to be recognized for excellence by a publication as prestigious as Travel Weekly.”

Founded in 2002 by travel visionaries Rudi Schreiner, Kristin Karst and Jimmy Murphy, AmaWaterways is considered the premier river cruise line on Europe’s Danube, Main, Mosel, Rhine, Rhône and Seine rivers. The company is known for its five-star amenities and service as well as its innovative ship designs, which feature multiple dining venues, stylish décor and an ingenious use of interior space.
Inspired by classic ocean yachts, sister ships AmaPrima (2013) and AmaCerto (2012) incorporate elegant design elements such as a magnificent glass elevator, exclusive Twin Balcony staterooms (featuring both a French Balcony and a full step-out balcony), and a heated Sun Deck swimming pool with a “swim-up” bar. These beautifully appointed ships also offer extra spacious accommodations, a fitness center, fine wines and gourmet dining, a salon and spa, as well as a fleet of complimentary bicycles for guests to borrow and enjoy.
