Uniworld Honored for Epicurean Excellence

Postby HostDave » Thu Sep 11, 2014 1:11 pm

Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection announces it has been honored with the Readers’ Choice Award for “Best Culinary Cruise Line” in the 2014 SAVEUR Culinary Travel Awards. The SAVEUR Culinary Travel Awards recognize those who put cuisine and culture at the forefront of the travel experience. Readers’ Choice winners represent a coveted list of the very best destinations and travel providers, as chosen by the magazine’s audience of 1.6 million food and travel enthusiasts.

“We take great pride in giving our guests a scenic ‘tasting menu’ of Europe, and it’s wonderful to be recognized for this by SAVEUR readers. We are extremely honored,” said Guy Young, President of Uniworld. “All of our European itineraries include opportunities to explore centuries-old culinary traditions, including hands-on cooking experiences and private wine tastings . And of course, fantastic food and wine onboard.”

Uniworld’s talented chefs can often be found browsing farmers’ markets in different ports of call, selecting locally grown produce, and finding inspiration in regional cuisine. The company’s wine list was selected by top sommeliers and features vintages from European’s most acclaimed grape-growing regions. Craft and regional beers, spirits, soft drinks, and specialty teas and coffees are also served onboard on an unlimited and complimentary basis.

Shore excursions often highlight local experts and artisans—such as chefs, bakers, cheese makers, and chocolatiers—making for memorable culinary experiences for Uniworld’s well-traveled guests.

“Our guests can make their own pasta in Italy, sample foods made with saffron grown along the Danube, and watch cheese being made in the Netherlands,” said Young. “Eating and drinking as the locals do, there’s simply no better way to discover the true heart and soul of another culture.”
