Facebook Reveal of S.S. Maria Theresa

Postby HostDave » Fri Mar 13, 2015 3:16 pm

Los Angeles-based cruise line Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection has generated immense buzz for the debut of its newest ship, the S.S. Maria Theresa, with the release of a handful of images on its Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/uniworldriverc ... 5408941005) last week showcasing the vessel's luxury.

According to Karryon.com, the S.S. Maria Theresa is set to be christened in Amsterdam on March 26 just before setting out on its inaugural voyage on March 28.

If you recall, its sister ship, the S.S. Catherine, debuted in March of last year. The Red Carnation Hotel Collection led design efforts aboard the S.S. Maria Theresa, which are highlighted by antique furnishings and original art throughout the ship.

Overall, the ship boasts 64 staterooms, 10 suites and one Royal Suite, which measures 38 square meters (409 square feet). For perspective, 54 of the 64 staterooms measure 18 square meters (194 square feet) and the standard suites measure 28.3 square meters (304 square feet).

Given the elegant and thoughtful design, the upcoming christening of the S.S. Maria Theresa is sure to be highly anticipated, among both Uniworld management and future passengers.

As mentioned earlier, the ship will launch from the Netherlands later this month during a ceremony featuring Princess Anita von Hohenberg.

"It’s a great honour for me to represent the Habsburg family in Amsterdam and to christen Uniworld’s new Super Ship, S.S. Maria Theresa, in honour of the great Maria Theresa," said Princess Anita von Hohenberg via Cruise&Ferry.net. "My family and I are also very thankful to welcome so many people from all over the world to the Artstetten Castle. We have had so many amicable encounters with Uniworld guests during our hosted receptions. It’s a great pleasure to get to know them and share more about Austria and European history and life in the European Union today."

"We are absolutely ecstatic to have Princess Anita von Hohenberg as the godmother of our newest Super Ship, S.S. Maria Theresa," said Young.

"There is no one more deserving of this honour than the direct descendent of Maria Theresa herself, who ruled for 40 years over an extraordinary and far-reaching empire."
