MS EUROPA 2: Countdown to the ‘on-board’ stage shows

Hapag-Lloyd Cruises' exclusive new ship, EUROPA 2, currently reaching its completion at the STX France shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, offers an entertainment programme that is second to none. At this very moment in Berlin the final rehearsals are taking place for four of the stage shows, which have been conceived exclusively for the EUROPA 2 by Chamaeleon Theatre staged by BRIX. In addition, three other production companies "Phase 7", "Fame" and "battleRoyal" are delivering a varied entertainment programme on board with their own show formats.
Extending over two decks, the modern on-board Theatre is to be the setting for two different stage shows each week, starting from the maiden voyage in May 2013. The shows have been created by renowned producers, directors and choreographers exclusively for the EUROPA 2. It is during this first cruise that the premieres of the first two productions by Chamaeleon Theatre staged by BRIX will take place.
"Water" by the Chamaeleon Theatre staged by BRIX offers audiences an original collage of comedy, live vocals and spectacular circus artistry based on the element water. This production transforms the stage into a bathing landscape, where in various scenes numerous performers demonstrate all sorts of things that can happen in a bathroom. "Earth" is set to be a very special evening of showmanship, with the element earth occupying centre stage and explored through dynamic group and dance sequences.
Consisting of eight artistes, the Ensemble will be bringing to guests on board the EUROPA 2 song, dance, acrobatics, spectacular costumes and much more. State-of-the-art stage lighting and sound equipment plus an eight by six metre LED screen offer performers superb scope for their creativity and plenty of surprises for spectators.
The space available on the new luxury ship matches the variety of the entertainment programme. In addition to the stage productions, the entertainment programme will also feature jazz concerts and comedy evenings, with international stars from the fields of music, literature and show-business. These include pop icon Kim Wilde and the jazz vocalist, newcomer Viktoria Tolstoy.
Guests can also enjoy live music in the Jazz Club in the evening or relax with a cocktail and the sound of the sea in the Sansibar, a subsidiary of the legendary bar on the island of Sylt.
The new ship is to be handed over by the French STX shipyard at the end of April. After the christening in Hamburg on 10 May 2013, the EUROPA 2 will set out on 11 May on a 14-day maiden voyage from Hamburg to Lisbon.
