New Europa 2 Offers Variety of Dining Venues

Postby HostDave » Wed Apr 24, 2013 2:33 pm

Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ new Europa 2, which is set for a May 11 maiden voyage, will have seven dining venues, including a sushi bar, three specialty restaurants and the Speisezimmer, which can be booked for private dining. The ship also will offer cooking courses in the Miele Culinary School while at sea.

With a capacity of 266, the largest restaurant is the Weltmeere, which will serve both international and vegetarian menus. The Yacht Club, the second largest restaurant, will provide grill specialties and a buffet. The restaurant accommodates up to 276 people, and has 134 outdoor seats.

The 44-seat Tarragon restaurant serves French cuisine, while the 48-seat Elements serves Asian food. Serenissima offers Italian cuisine to up to 56 people, including Mediterranean classics and modern interpretations of Ligurian, or Neapolitan, cooking. The 58-seat Sakura restaurant offers sushi, miso soup and green tea ice cream for dessert. Classic wines from the world over are available in the Grande Reserve wine bar. Individual wine tastings can also be arranged for a maximum of 12 guests.

Guests can book the Speisezimmer at a cost of $1,800 for an evening. The price includes an aperitif, amuse-bouche with caviar and a lobster dinner.

In the Miele Culinary School, the chef de cuisine of Tarragon will demonstrate the cuisine of Europa 2’s various cruise destinations. The cooking courses take place in the morning and can be booked as an alternative to a shore excursion. They cost 80 Euros per person (about $96), and include wines, cooking aprons and recipes.
