Ocean Sun Festival classical music festival at sea

Postby HostDave » Wed Aug 07, 2013 2:33 am

Autumn on board the EUROPA – the world’s only 5-star-plus* cruise ship – is all about classical music. The popular “Ocean Sun Festival” will be held in conjunction with Deutsche Grammophon on the 11-day cruise from Nice to Madeira, 19 to 30 November 2013. The “Ocean Sun Festival” will feature internationally-acclaimed classical music stars performing on board, as well as exclusive concerts at historical sites ashore.

During the Ocean Sun Festival, the crème de la crème of the classical music scene transform the EUROPA into a festival stage. This unique event is held out on the open sea every year, in conjunction with Deutsche Grammophon. Performers appearing during the eleven-day cruise include the clarinettist Sabine Meyer, the baritone Roman Trekel, the mezzo-soprano Bernarda Fink and the soprano Raquel Andueza. The programme also features performances by the mandolin player Avi Avital and the former singer Thomas Quasthoff, who will present a number of musical readings, some co-starring Roman Trekel.

This Mediterranean cruise, featuring the “Ocean Sun Festival 2013” departs from Nice on 19 November, sailing to Funchal/ Madeira, calling at Cannes, Marseilles, Barcelona, Valencia, Palma de Mallorca, Algiers and Casablanca – cruise-only fares from € 3,290 per person (GBP 2,570, USD 3,950).
