Expedition ship Hanseatic completes scheduled docking period in Bremerhaven

Postby HostDave » Thu Oct 22, 2015 1:34 pm

For three weeks, work was carried out non-stop on board the Hanseatic. This docking period saw mostly extensive technical improvements.

The ship’s two stabilizers were completely overhauled and converted to environmentally friendly technology, which represents an extraordinary step in terms of sustainability. The stabilizers now run on environmentally friendly biopetroleum. Additionally, the ship’s two main engines have undergone a complete overhaul and will continue to safely transport the 122.8 metre-long expedition ship to the most exotic destinations in the world.

Around 240 large nature and animal photographs by the Hamburg-based star photographer Michael Poliza will lend more of an air of expedition to the ship. The famous photographer took the photos on his travels, and his works include motifs from the Arctic, Antarctic and Africa. Guests on board can also marvel at a selection of spectacular aerial shots, such as of Kamchatka.

A range of minor work was also carried out during the docking period, including replacing carpets, renovating the consultation area of the cruise sales department and modernizing the presentation walls of the on-board photographer with modern screens.

On 21 October the Hanseatic will set off on a two-week cruise from Bremerhaven to Tenerife. On the way it will call at ports including Portsmouth, La Coruna, Leixoes, Lisbon, Portimao, Cadiz, Casablanca, Arrecife/Lanzarote, Santa Cruz/La Palma and San Sebastian/La Gomera.

In May this year, Hapag-Lloyd Cruises has revealed to the English-speaking marketplace its November 2015 – May 2017 new Hanseatic Expedition Cruises brochure, offering a total of eleven, adventurous and enriching itineraries operated in English and German on board the world’s only 5-star* expedition ship. As she did in 2014, HANSEATIC will once again sail the Northeast Passage, which remains a great seafaring challenge to this day. Guests can also experience the beauty of the Arctic and Antarctica on board the expedition ship with the highest ice class. The very popular cruises into the Amazon, the South Seas islands, and Chilean fjords are also being repeated.
