Things are Getting Comfortable Aboard the EUROPA 2

Postby HostDave » Thu Nov 15, 2012 2:15 pm

-Standard suites are produced in two blocks: living and bathroom area
-Larger suite categories are constructed directly on board

The newly built EUROPA 2 continues to take shape and is increasingly becoming more comfortable – currently, the production and installation of the EUROPA 2 suites is taking place at the STX shipyard in Saint-Nazaire. An average of between 25 and 30 cabins per week are completed in the cabin factory before being loaded and distributed on the various guest decks with a lift.

The standard suites are produced in two individual blocks – the living and the bathroom area. At the cabin factory, more than 150 workers are busy every day manufacturing the suites on eleven production lines and assembling the different elements such as bed frames, slatted frames, desks and wardrobes which were previously produced on the basis of a customised design. Securely packaged, the cabin blocks are subsequently loaded, hauled onto the newly built ship with a lift, placed side by side on board and screwed together. After this, all that needs to be done is for the carpet to be fitted and the sofa to be positioned. The installation of all the suites will be finished by Christmas.

The Penthouse Suites are fitted directly on board as transportation would not be possible due to their size.

The newly built MS EUROPA 2 which will set sail for the first time in May of 2013 offers maximum space for all guests – all suites have their own at least seven square metres large veranda with ocean view. The passengers can choose from a total of 251 suites in eight different categories – from the Veranda Suite measuring 28 square metres to the Owner’s Suite with its generous 99 square metres. Seven family apartments consist of two separate suites which are connected with each other via a connecting door and the verandas. The EUROPA 2 is the modern and lifestyle-oriented sister ship of the EUROPA, the only 5-star-plus ship in the world (according to the Berlitz Cruise Guide 2013).
