A Makeover Fit for a Queen

Postby HostDave » Fri Feb 01, 2013 3:25 pm

The Super Bowl isn’t the only big thing going on in New Orleans this winter. The American Queen is docked just across the river from the site of the Big Game undergoing some show-stopping touch-ups. On your next voyage, you will notice shimmering gold, pearl and platinum-toned wallpapers now grace her interior public areas, including the majestic J.M. White Dining Room.

The Dining Room will also feature an elegant marble and granite entryway. New Victorian-patterned carpeting and wallpaper provide a luxurious setting. Seating will be upgraded to empire-style dining chairs for added comfort and ambiance during each meal. For those who prefer a less formal setting, you will find the Front Porch of America has been upgraded with the addition of alternate dining at the Front Porch Café. Improving service efficiency is another focus of the renovations, so the galley is being refitted with state-of-the-art appliances.

A new collection of artwork depicting river scenes by Michael Blaser can be found throughout the halls, companionways and lobbies. Fresh paint is also being applied to trim work to complement the exquisite new wallpaper. In outside staterooms and suites, guests will find elegant mahogany plantation shutters have been added to the French doors to maximize privacy when needed but allow a full view of the scenery as desired. Baths will feature a new amenity collection formulated exclusively for the American Queen including shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and body lotion.

Returning and new friends of the American Queen in 2013 will be overwhelmed with the improved look and function of every aspect of life onboard. We look forward to making more memories with you this season.
