INTRODUCING MORE OPPORTUNITIES FOR SOLO TRAVELER

Postby HostDave » Wed Nov 06, 2013 9:57 pm

Award-winning river cruise line AmaWaterways today announced it will waive the single supplement fee on an unprecedented number of departures in 2014.

Single supplements (additional fees for solo travelers) are a common practice in the cruise industry, where ship accommodations are typically priced for double occupancy. The number of people who travel alone, however, has been increasing in recent years. In fact, it’s estimated that more than 10% of American adults will travel solo in 2013. Industry experts predict that if companies make it more affordable for people to travel on their own – by waiving single supplements or offering special deals – the number of solo travelers might increase even more.

“We make it a priority to keep on top of developing trends, and it’s clear that more and more solo travelers want to experience our cruises,” said Kristin Karst, AmaWaterways’ Executive Vice President and Co-Owner. “Waiving the single supplement makes it much easier for them.”

A river cruise can be a perfect travel option for people venturing out on their own, as they never have to deal with hauling their luggage from place to place, eating alone, or navigating an unfamiliar environment. AmaWaterways’ intimately sized ships, resourceful cruise managers and like-minded passengers facilitate true camaraderie, so solo travelers never feel left out of the action as they often do on large ocean-going vessels. River cruises tend to foster a friendly, close-knit community, making it easy to connect with fellow passengers on shore excursions, at meals or just relaxing aboard the ship.

Six ships in AmaWaterways’ European fleet offer a limited number of single berth staterooms. To accommodate even more solo travelers, the company will waive the single supplement on select departures throughout 2014, including these itineraries:

-- Vietnam, Cambodia & The Riches of the Mekong
-- Paris & Normandy
-- Provence & Spain
--Tulip Time Cruise
--The Romantic Danube
-- The Enchanting Rhine
-- Vineyards of the Rhine & Mosel
-- Christmas Time Cruise

“Whether you are traveling alone or with others, there is simply no better way to see the world and meet interesting people than on one of our voyages,” said Karst. “No one should have to miss out on a wonderful vacation like this.”
