Abercrombie & Kent is offering a new Arctic cruise program centered on the polar bear. The trip will be accompanied by a team of research scientists and naturalists and will use Compagnie du Ponant’s Le Boreal cruise ship, which is designed for polar waters.
Titled “Arctic Cruise Norway: Polar Bears & the Midnight Sun,” the trip will take place July 29-Aug. 9, 2014. It will travel from Norway to the Svalbard Archipelago and Spitsbergen. Naturalists will help lead participants to encounters with polar bears, now in danger of extinction with melting ice caps, as well as walruses, whales, birds and other arctic wildlife. Climate change expert Dr. James McClintock will join the trip. The 12-day package is priced from $8,995 if booked by Nov. 30.
A&K also is offering what it calls an “Arctic Cruise Adventure: Norway, Greenland & Iceland,” which will take place Aug. 7-21, 2014. It will also track polar bears at the Svalbard archipelago, and will also travel in the fjords of the east coast of Greenland, and will also visit Iceland. The 15-day trip is priced from $11,995 when booked by Nov. 30.
